Growing older is about
enjoying life. So if you’ve always been a rock aficionado, pull on that Blondie
tee-shirt with some Levis. Ratchet up the chic by adding cool block-heel boots.
Asymmetric hemlines
accentuate your legs while echoing your artistic sensibility. A cut-out
shoulder sweater is a fun spin on a ho-hum closet staple. You’re not dull, so
your clothes shouldn’t be either!
Flaunt your favorite
color. Do you yearn for yellow? Have a passion for pink? Go for it! If you’re
worried a hue is not you, look at color charts online for complimenting shades
to your skin, hair and eyes. Maybe you adore purple, but those charts suggest
is washes you out. Wear items with purple accents instead. You don’t need to
shun your favorite colors completely. Florals, stripes, shapes, and polkadots
are style stars at any age.
Size up. Stop trying to
squeeze into stuff. A little room goes a long way when it comes to comfort.
More generous jeans will miraculously make your muffin top disappear because
your waist isn’t tightly bound. If the size number annoys you, tear up the tag
and Sharpie out the label size inside.
Cut out comparisons.
Like a trend? Wear it. Love a celeb’s sense of style? Adopt it as your own. But
stop comparing yourself to other women, younger or older, superstar or next
door neighbor.
If you’re uncomfortable
in your own skin, you certainly won’t be comfortable in your clothes, so start
there. When you discover a real woman’s fashion sense, you’re uncovering your
true self. Nothing is more head-turning than a broad who struts her stuff and
owns it!
